Michael Owen Expects Arsenal to Secure a Win over Sunderland

Michael Owen is quite confident that Arsenal will be able to keep on fighting for the top four places going into the final day of the season.

In order to do so, the gunners will have to take all three points in the home game against Sunderland. Even though the Black Cats have already been relegated, there is a fear that the lack of pressure on David Moyes’ team could help them make a difference in the race for the top four. The possibility of Arsenal finishing in the top four is beyond their hands after Liverpool’s 4-0 win over West Ham during the weekend.

The Merseyside outfit will be able to secure a place in the next season’s Champions League with a win against Middlesbrough in their final game of the season. Arsenal can only hope that Liverpool stumble in this final hurdle. A disappointing run of form for a couple of months into the 2017 calendar year saw Arsenaldrop out of the top four.

The possibility of the club missing out on the European competition is now distinct. They have qualified for the Champions League group stages in each of the last 20 campaigns without fail. Hence, there is a lot of pressure on manager Arsene Wenger. Michael Owen, though, does not see Sunderland having enough quality to even trouble Arsenal.

"Arsenal have never lost at home to Sunderland in the Premier League and it is hard to see how this current Black Cats side can buck the trend. As far as their Champions League hopes are concerned, the Gunners must keep winning in the hope that Liverpool somehow fail to beat Boro at Anfield on Sunday. Arsenal have played very well in recent weeks and they are likely to be much too good for David Moyes’ side who were well beaten by Swansea at the weekend," said Owen.
