Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Michael Owen has hailed the qualities of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he found the scoresheet for the 14th time in the Premier League season against Fulham. The Gabon international only joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund at the start of 2018 but he has since adapted excellently with 26 goals already across all competitions.
Speaking on BT Sport, Owen highlighted that Aubameyang is an outright goalscorer while praising his ability to pick the right kind of shot for every goal, he said:“He’s a goal-scorer. He’s got the pace to get into certain areas. The big thing about goal-scorers is that you have to maximise your chances of scoring with every chance you get. You have to choose the right finish, and I think he does that as well as most. He goes for power when he needs to go for power and he can place it and score different types of goals. He picks the right finish every time.”
“Aubameyang is currently the leading scorer in the Premier League season with 14 goals on the board “and out of those, two came during the stunning north London derby triumph over Tottenham Hotspur where he scored a sublime a long-range goal. With this, he has pretty much silenced doubters “who have regularly deemed“ him a tap-in merchant and it now remains to be seen whether he can help the Gunners to win some kind of silverware.
Arsenal are pretty much out of contention for the Premier League while they have already been eliminated from the League Cup, where they suffered a quarter-final defeat to Spurs. As such, they are only in contention for trophies through the FA Cup and Europa League and the former could remain the club’s best bet, given their success in the competition over the past five years.
