The Stoke city manager Tony Pulis has said that the new signing for the club Michael Owen is extremely desperate to start a match for the club, but has said that the former Manchester United and Liverpool striker is not ready yet.

Manchester United released the 32-year-old Michael Owen after the end of his contract. He has been without a club throughout the summer transfer window, but signed for Stoke city in the last few days. He is expected to once again link up well with the former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch, with whom he has a great partnership at international level.

Even though he has had a lot of injuries problems over the course of his career, he is extremely desperate to start a new career at Stoke city according to the manager. However, he does not have the necessary fitness levels in order to play the whole 90 min according to the Stoke city manager. Michael Owen recently made his debut for his new club in the match against Manchester city. Stoke city managed a 1-1 draw with Manchester city during the weekend, but were unable to get the victory despite having Michael Owen on the pitch in the final few minutes.

"Michael has trained ever so well over the last couple of days. He is desperate to get going. But he needs a lot more football. He has done a lot of work by himself, fitness-wise, but playing games is a lot different from just running," said Tony Pulis after the 1-1 draw with Manchester city. He has also said that the presence of Glenn Whelan will help Michael Owen get back to full fitness.
